Doggie Treat time! 🐾
I have always leaned towards feeding my dogs homemade dog food so I thought why not make treats!
Lets talk a little about ingredients. While dogs love to eat human food they can't have it all.
This recipe is free from toxic ingredients, sugar and unnecessary ingredients some major dog brands put into their dog food/ treats.
Benefits from Ingredients:
Oat Flour: Contains Vitamin B which helps maintain a healthy coat and strong skin.
Egg: High in protein, fatty acids and vitamins which helps support your puppy inside and out.
(Unsweetened) Apple Sauce: Lots of Fiber! Maintains a good healthy digestion.
Pumpkin Puree: Another great ingredient for a healthy digestion. (really good if your dog is constipated)
Coconut Oil: There are sooo many benefits of coconut oil. Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids and healthy saturated fights. Maintains healthy skin and coat, relieves itchy skin, helps with allergies, boost immune system and more.
Where to source ingredients (tips)
To get the most out of your buck I highly recommend trying a 99 cents store or grocery outlet first. If you are able to find these items at a dollar store just check that it is 100% of that pure ingredient without any additives. If you have pure rolled oats at home without any additives, blend them on high in your blender or food processor to create your oat flour.
Lets Bake!

Pumpkin Oat Dog Treats
Ingredients
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Mix Ingredients: Start with a large mixing bowl and add in the oat flour. Now, mix in your apple sauce, pumpkin puree, coconut oil, and egg. Slowly begin to fold mix together.
- Shape cookie treats: There are two options, you can free-hand your cookie shape treats or use a stencil. I rolled out my dough on a cutting board and added a bit of all-purpose flour to prevent the dough from sticking. Create a nice thick layer about 1/4" - 3/8 " thick and use a stencil to create a cookie shape.
- Arrange on a baking sheet: Use a baking pan and add baking parchment paper on top. Lay cookies across the pan. Cookies won't expand like a regular cookie so no need to leave an inch of room. 1/2 in. of room between each cookie works.
- Bake: Bake for about 15 minutes. Flip each cookie at the halfway mark between 7-8 minutes to create a crunchy exterior and added texture to the cookie.
- Cool Down: Allow treats to cool down before giving to the puppers.
Notes:
Please verify with your veterinarian if this recipe is suitable for your dog.
These treats should not replace your dog's meal and should be given in moderation. Each dog depending on breed and size requires a certain amount of calories per day.
