Starting a new chapter…

It has been a minute since I’ve written a blog, most of you may know I hit a little rut, lacking creativity and joy of sharing what I’ve learned and what I have discovered.
The Bellaris Blog page was a safe space for me to share my current hobbies, experiences, and everything I was overly keen on at that moment in time. However, life and its beautiful obstacles redirected me in another direction for a short period and I hope to be able to share more frequently than I have in the past.

Let’s catch up!

As many of you may know, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, the study of the human body/ movement. I was always fascinated by how intelligent our bodies are and how much we humans push our bodies to their limit every day to repeat the next day. As I get older, I have learned to appreciate my body more and more. As a woman who suffers from painful menstrual cycle symptoms, I had to learn what worked with my body and what did not work. I say suffer as I am still learning how to relieve my pain through the foods I eat, the supplements I take, and the amount of exercise/ rest I give my body.

I was vegan for 4 years and recently made the switch to incorporate chicken into my diet. I first became vegan because I suffered from painful menstrual symptoms and believed it could help regulate my symptoms. I experienced cramps, fainting, low blood pressure, nausea, emesis, and fatigue and couldn’t perform normal daily tasks Day 1 & 2 of my cycle. However, veganism didn’t solve my PMS but I did enjoy the lifestyle and I stuck with it. Fast forward a few months of my veganism, and my doctor decided it would be best to put me on birth control to help alleviate my symptoms. I was on the pill for about 4 years and loved it my first 2 years of being on the pill, I finally didn’t have to suffer from painful cramps! However part of me felt unsettled that I was taking artificial hormones to help ease the pain after hearing countless stories of women on the pill and how the pill negatively effected them. That’s when I began doing my research and testing what works for my body and what does not. Incorporating chicken has helped significantly along with focusing on eating a high protein meal for breakfast.

Without getting into too much detail in my first blog back, lol! I began to investigate naturopathic methods to soothe my irregular menstrual cycle and symptoms. I came across a Chinese medical practice called acupuncture which many of you may correlate this practice with tiny needles being punctured into the skin. In my research, I discovered multiple success stories from acupuncturists and their patients on how a few sessions of acupuncture helped relieve their pain and regulate imbalanced hormones. Acupuncture plays a huge role in Women’s Health by assisting in fertility, regulating hormones, easing PCOS symptoms, and more. Acupuncture is mainly recognized for treating physical pain and stress management. I truly believe the practice has not received the recognition it deserves although, this is common for alternative medical practices such as Chiropractic medicine.

Since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to help people through medicine and while I was attending school for my bachelor's, I never really felt 100% on the different career paths I was considering until now! I am so excited to say that I am attending school to obtain my doctorate in Chinese Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture.

I am very excited to be able to learn a practice that focuses on the alternative approach to healing rather than the traditional Western approach of prescribing medication rather than seeking the root cause of the issue and treating it from a natural perspective, understanding that our body, mind, and energy coincide together to reach passed optimal health.
I am very excited to share everything I learn during the next 4 years of school and hope to be able to help anyone in any way possible.

Wishing you all a great fantastic new year! 🫶🏼
