Must Read Book on Nutrition and Overall Health

Must Read Book on Nutrition and Overall Health

I’ve been vegan for almost 2 years now and it has completely changed the way I eat in a good way. Let’s backtrack a little. I've mentioned before that I love all things health and fitness. I must have been a freshman in college when I started reading the book, How Not to Die by Michael Greger M.D. & Gene Stone and I was already thinking of possibly going vegetarian but wasn’t fully convinced until I read this book.  Anyways, I began to read this book and the first couple of pages just had me shook. I could not believe that a plant -based diet can have such a positive outcome for one's own health. I wasn’t even half way in the book and I decided to cut meat out and 1 week later I cut dairy out of my diet. In a matter of 2 weeks I became vegan. (Now as a side note, I wouldn't recommend doing what I did and cutting out animal products from your diet within 2 weeks. I would gradually cut out meat and dairy.)
I learned so much from reading this book. I still have it today and every once in a while I will open it and read my highlights and refresh my memory about a certain chapter. It is a hefty book but it is extremely informative even if you don’t want to go vegan, you'll still be able to learn so much from it. If you want to learn about overall health, nutrition and chronic diseases, I highly recommend reading this book. I am an avid Kindle user but this book definitely deserves to be read off a hardcover book.

I can definitely talk about my plant-based journey if you guys are interested go ahead and let me know in the comments. I do have to say that after 2 years of being vegan, I am still learning so much about the industry and it continues to rapidly grow which is super exciting and amazing. The plant- based community is truly inspiring and there is so much to learn even if you haven't taken the step to become vegan, you can still learn a ton.
